SUPPORTING THE BLM MOVEMENT & OUR LGBTQ COMMUNITY

BLM PRIDE 2020

In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, we’re here to stand with the Black citizens of our community, to share resources that will help battle police brutality, discrimination, and injustice in our city and beyond. Addressing the Black Lives Matter movement is an important step for us, but we know that this is not about us. It’s not about our voices or efforts. It’s about standing in solidarity with our Black neighbors. Now is the time for putting words into action, into funding, and into tangible support.

Center is a small business in NYC, owned and run by an all woman team. We do not truly understand the discrimination Black Americans face on a day to day basis, but we will listen, we will do our best and we will be a part of the solution.

Our business is donating to Black Lives Matter and also extending financial support to Black Visions Collective and the Human Rights Campaign organizations. June is the time we celebrate PRIDE and this year’s approach is through a lens of resilience and resistance, exemplified by the Stonewall Riots when Black Trans women began the modern fight for LGBTQ rights, just down the street in 1969.

This month, we’re matching donations made by our patients and any member of our community (this means you) to the following 3 Organizations:

1. Black Lives Matter Foundation (@blklivesmatter) - https://blacklivesmatter.com/

Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc. is a global organization whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. #BlackLivesMatter is committed to imagining and creating a world free of anti-Blackness, where every Black person has the social, economic, and political power to thrive.

2. Black Visions Collective (@blackvisionscollective) - https://www.blackvisionsmn.org/

Black Visions Collective (BLVC) is committed to shaping a political home for Black people across Minnesota, where George Floyd was tragically murdered on May 25th. BLVC envisions a world in which ALL Black Lives Matter. They are committed to dismantling systems of oppression and violence and are determined in their pursuit of dignity and equity for all.

3. Human Rights Campaign (@humanrightscampaign) - https://www.hrc.org/

The Human Rights Campaign represents a force of more than 3 million members and supporters nationwide, working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Americans. HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBTQ people and envisions a world where they are ensured equality and embraced as full members of society at home, at work, and in every community.
